Atlas Heavy Duty Egress Easy Clean Hinge

Accommodating sash weights of up to 50kg and sash widths of up to 1000mm. the Atlas friction hinge is the perfect solution for heavy duty egress windows. The range includes Egress Easy Clean and Egress Only hinges, with a unique geometry providing a maximum clear opening for egress requirements. This greater opening means the Atlas is also ideal for smaller windows where compliance with minimum clear opening dimensions are critical. An easy clean dimension well in excess of British Standards requirements means cleaning the outside of windows is safer and easier, and the hinge automatically resets upon closing.

Atlas hinges have been endurance tested with their maximum load carrying capacity to 3 times the British Standard requirement. Always refer to the ‘safe reaches for cleaning’ instructions in Approved Document K when specifying egress windows.

Technical Data

The Atlas range is manufactured in stainless steel and offers excellent load bearing characteristics. Heavy duty hinges have increased bar thicknesses and 14mm and 17mm stack heights are available to support increased weight requirements. Atlas hinges are available in 12″, 14″ and 16″ side hung variants. Slotted fixing holes in the base channel and sash bar, with a final fixing hole in each component, provide maximum sash/frame adjustment. The stainless nose-cap is riveted on to the hinge for extra strength and rivet holes are counterbored in a 3 stage manufacturing process. This means parts are manufactured to tight tolerances and ensures reliable operation of the finished hinges. The friction slide is made from high strength glass reinforced nylon with an adjustable resistance screw to regulate friction.
